meditation

See this picture at myhotel, Brighton

Samira creates original, expressive artwork that balances harmony and chaos in a style of her own. She creates in a meditative state responding to the model, ambience and music.

Samira works quickly and instinctively believing we all innately have the understanding of poetry yet we often block it. Continuous quick drawing liberates this intrinsic knowledge and over time an artist develops their own individual visual language similar to writing.

This collection was created between 2002 to the present day. Samira draws with both hands using ink, pastels, chalks and wax. The work is inspired by the beauty of the models and their personalities and natures.

Art is a space, just being. Art is a storybook of life. Art is an experience with the intention of touching the raw, the real, the vulnerable, beneath the surface. Art is the poetry of life intrinsically within all and liberated and amplified by the artist. Art is wonder, the mystical explored in the magnificent and ordinary. Art is part of humanity's conscience. Art is harmony and chaos and sometimes the unity of both. Art is the greatest freedom the soul can explore within the limitations of the body. Art embodies the soul of the artist and value lies within the viewer's experience of connecting with the work's energetic form. Art soothes deeper than the mind can touch. Art is a journey that replays uniquely for each person, every time. Art is an awakening. Art is my core.

Girl sitting

The person who showed Samira this way of drawing said to her "If you want detail, take a photo, I am more concerned with the essence of the being."

This picture is an example of Samira playing with the line between abstract and figurative

Allowing the lines to twist the forms with more emphasis on the energetic truth of the dynamic than the external form.

amanda back

This art is inspired by the yearning to present to myself the space that touches me deepest, the sense of being.

The truth my body understands intrinsically in a state of beauty and harmony. Omnipresent in life but sometimes too subtle to be appreciated in this hurried world.

The truth that cannot be diminished by my brain's or societies objectives, patterns, illusions and conditionings.

The spirit of mankind in its glory: free, open and joyous.

The spirit of mankind in its suffering: caged and struggling yet inspirational.

That which reminds us of what it is to be a human being.

To create a record of my journey that continuously expands as I develop internally and externally a more truthful sense of being.

Look at the shoulder on the right it is not a description of what a shoulder looks like. It is visual short hand for what a shoulder does, the circle is the rotation aspect of the shoulder
