Samira Harris - Biog Since qualifying from The London Institute of Art and Design with a BA in Drawing in 2002 Samira has become a professional artist and arts facilitator. Samira has had her art studio based in London for the last ten years but recently has moved to Surrey and is currently creating a new studio with an artistic collective in Lewes, Sussex. Samira spends the majority of time focused on her personal development in art which is expressed mainly through her 2D imagery but she has also made some 3D work. Samira absolutely loves running workshops as she has great fun working with people, learns so much whilst doing it and is a natural teacher. Currently she is teaching adult education one day a week in Haselmere and is teaching one day workshops in schools with top Illustrator, Cliff Wright. Samira is passionate about helping people to understand that the gift of being creative is available to everyone and should not be focused on the results but the experience. For more information on her teaching see workshops The most surprising twist in Samira's career was when she became inspired to write stories, basically her imagination was overflowing with ideas that could not be expressed in any other format but with no training she was not very confident in this art. However she was influenced by other artists to start storytelling and the reaction from both adults and children was incredibly positive. She then went on to do storytelling in schools, at art events and even had a television recording and publishing offer! She is currently in the process of finishing the illustrations for her epic poem, Freddie Fox which will be published soon. As her desire to relate to the audience grew she began learning more about performance work and along the way began stilt-walking and doing improvisation with children! Samira feels incredibly grateful to have had such a diverse career during her twenties and now she is thirty she is looking forward to more of the same! Samira's next fine art exhibition will be at The Edinburgh festival in August.
